Good, better, best? Superlatives don't count—things can always get worse, or better. As the pre-Christmas shopping frenzy subsides, Professor Tatjana Doll's class at the Karlsruhe Art Academy is showing its work at the Galerie Droste in Düsseldorf. Paintings, but not off the rack. The exhibition was actually supposed to take place in 2024, but had to be postponed due to an unexpected encounter between a flex disc and asbestos fiber within the academy. Now, shortly before the big annual unboxing, the time has come and the flatware is going on display. Twenty-four students are each showing a series of paintings. The serial principle was approached from a wide variety of directions. The result is an exhibition that showcases the entire painterly spectrum of the class.
